Anti-virus and etc. programs???

i bought a nod32 at june, I used it on my XP but not since I have a vista i deleted it and tried to install to my vista but it said not compatible. Recently i've been having some problems in my comp and i wonder if they're due to viruses and my constant downloading habit.

Are there any free good anti-virus/spyware programs out there while i'm going to buy one? Is nod32 good?
