What is the best anti-virus freeware?

I have Norton right now but like alot of ppl, I don't think it actually does the job like it should other wise i wouldn't be getting viruses.

So, what and where can I go to get good anti-virus-free?

Also, a good spyware protection would be good.

You are getting viruses because of this websites you're visiting! ALSO! Your virus program is ONLY as good as the most recent updates. Seeing as there's over 500 new viruses created everyday, and you MAYBE only update once a week, it is inevitable that you will get a virus.... Especially since you go on the internet every day of your life.

Norton handles the viruses that DO come in the best. Quarantines them and then REMOVES PERMISSIONS to those quarantines so nothing can be executed. Some other virus programs (like AVG...) quarantine the file by moving it to an isolated folder on the hard drive... that's it.

Norton also has the option for Virus scan on boot up which allows you to scan and remove the viruses that CAN'T be removed while windows is actually running... Why? When windows is running... the virus files are in use and NO Anti-Virus program will be able to get rid of them.

Two Options:

#1 - Remove the hard drive, hook it up to another PC and run a virus scanner on it and VOILA! Viruses are GONE!
